A Positive Pastime

Dynamic DuoRunning is an activity that both mother and son enjoy doing together. Harriette, 78, and Brenny, 42, often win in their corresponding age groups at races. This past April mom ran 33:14 and son ran 18:43 in a 5-K which each earned them a 1st place in their age group. Harriette plays down her victories reporting that she has no competition. Brenny is very competitive but balances his life out with daily one-hour yoga sessions. He is very proud of his mother and sees her as a great role model for himself.

Harriatte runs at least one mile every day and is still an active concert pianist. She began running in 1977 to raise money for the Leukemia Society. Besides charities, Harriatte reports running now both for her health and to spend time with Brenny. "He always circles back after he finishes, then runs in with me." Looks like this mother and son duo have found a positive pastime.
